Over the past 20 months, the performing arts have been severely impacted by COVID-19. From theatre closures, to online and socially distanced performing, to the threat of cancelled shows, it has been one of the most challenging times in the sector’s history. More than 54% of those involved in the sector have lost over half of their income over the past year, with those in the freelance community hit the hardest.

The Huo Family Foundation was fortunate to be able to play a small role in the sector’s recovery in April of this year, making grants to six wonderful organisations. We hope that this video showcases the difficulties faced by those in the sector, their joy at being able to perform again, and their cautiously optimistic outlook for the future.
