THE HUO FAMILY FOUNDATION COMMITS OVER $2.6M TO NINE NEW GRANTS
July 2025

The Huo Family Foundation is thrilled to announce new grants to long-standing partners in the arts and education sectors as it continues to promote the pursuit of knowledge and advocate safe and successful communities in the UK and China.
New grants of £500,000 have been awarded to Teach First and $250,000 to Teach for China, to support the recruitment of teachers who will undertake two-year teaching placements in underserved schools in the UK and rural China.

The Foundation is also pleased to continue its relationship with the Royal Academy of Arts, awarding £200,000 for its upcoming exhibition Painting the French Riviera. Opening in October 2026 in collaboration with the Cleveland Museum of Art, the exhibition will feature 120 works – paintings, sculpture, travel posters, and film, produced by major Impressionists, Post-Impressionists and Modernists artists. A new grant of £250,000 to the National Portrait Gallery will support Lucian Freud: Drawing into Painting, the first exhibition dedicated to the British painter’s drawing practice. Opening next Spring, the show will include rarely seen works from the artist’s archives.

The Foundation continues to champion the performing arts in London with grants to the National Theatre (£200,000), The Old Vic (£200,000), and Donmar Warehouse (£100,000), contributing to their upcoming productions. A gift of £400,000 has also been awarded to the Royal Ballet and Opera to support the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons, including The Nutcracker, Turandot, and The Marriage of Figaro. Additionally, the London Symphony Orchestra will receive £300,000 to support six concerts in their next two seasons.
